Hope is on the Horizon

Alicia Kristjanson was 16 years old when she lost her father to Alzheimer’s disease. He was 49. For many years, Alicia didn’t tell anyone about the daily struggles that she, her mother and her brother faced caring for her father in their home. It was a private challenge.

Last April, Alicia, ready to share her experience, spoke at the Alzheimer’s Association Reason to Hope breakfasts in Bellevue and Seattle. Her commitment to end this disease resonated with attendees who learned how they could be a part of the fight against Alzheimer’s. Funding for research and local programs will change the course of the disease and Reason to Hope guests joined Alicia by giving their financial support to fight Alzheimer’s.

We are grateful to the many Alzheimer’s advocates who will share their personal stories at Reason to Hope this year, and who hope to inspire you to make a difference. Will you consider becoming a table host to connect your friends, family and colleagues to this important work? Table hosts commit to bringing nine others with them to the breakfast and receive support throughout the process from an Alzheimer’s Association staff partner.

Your table of 10 could provide 30 phone consultations with a trained dementia specialist on our 24/7 Helpline, and fund three Early Stage Memory Loss seminars serving 60 newly-diagnosed individuals and their care partners.  These are only two examples of the impact your table will have.

Reason to Hope is a one hour inspirational event where you will learn how we can achieve a world without Alzheimer’s disease together. There is no cost to attend. At the end of the program you will be invited to take part by making a financial contribution to local programs and research for a cure. Join us at an upcoming Reason to Hope in your community:
